Diani is home to the most beautiful pristine beaches in Kenya. Located just south of Mombasa, the second city of Kenya, and with its own airport the town has been a beloved tourist destination for local and international travellers alike. The completion of the bridge to Mombasa will enable further growth of the tourist industry in Diani. The KAI apartment building is ideally located on the northern side of Diani off the main road on the second row with a direct walkway to the beach. The apartment building integrates studio up to two-bedroom apartments. The large two bedroom apartments at the ocean facing side of the building allow for magnificent views from all rooms. From the eastern towards the western side of the building the apartment sizes gradually step down from two-bedroom to one-bedroom and a limited number of studio apartments. The design of the facade and loggias evolves around creating ocean views for all but the studio apartments. At the same time the smart facade design creates maximum privacy between the various apartment types. Covered parking is provided for the residents on a half-sunken basement level. Access to the individual apartments leads the residents through a shared atrium space infused with tropical planting and cross ventilation with elevators connecting the various residential floors with the parking and the roof garden.

The tropical conditions in Diani have been the source of inspiration for the design and layout of the apartments. Other than regular city apartments the design integrates large private and shaded loggias into the living space with an open kitchen. In addition to regular living and bedroom spaces the apartments include areas with flexible use for studying, remote working or as an additional bedroom space. What truly sets the apartments apart though is the design of the bathroom in relation to the living spaces. Highlight within the apartment is the bathtub, located between the loggia and bedroom with direct ocean views. This bathtub as such becomes a private pool to enjoy, cool down and relax without having to retreat into a dark enclosed space. Privacy for this private pool and of course in the rest of the bathroom is provided through the smart design of the façade, creating ocean views while preserving interior privacy. The larger two-bedroom apartments feature an additional ensuite master bedroom in addition. The second bedrooms in these apartments – with private bathtub/pool – can be flexibly used as an additional lounge or study or remain bed- and guestroom. A common garden on the roof allows for green spaces to retreat whilst enjoying the distant views, to take a stroll, enjoy the gym or to go for a swim in the infinity rooftop pool with vast terrace facing the ocean.
